Background to Position

The Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management invites applications for the full-time position of Senior Faculty Officer. The successful incumbent will lead and manage student administration for the Faculty’s Online/Distance learning programmes and will be responsible for the administration of all online/distance students. He/she will report to the Faculty Registrar.

Job Description

  • The successful candidate must have strong supervisory and interpersonal skills, must be able to communicate accurately and clearly with all stakeholders (students and staff), possess a high level of computer literacy, and must evidence excellent organisational ability.
  • He/she should be able to work constructively as part of a team, display initiative, and work strategically and independently with limited supervision.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail across all areas of work are of the utmost importance.
  • An ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines Duties: 
  • Manage and implement admission and registration procedures for new and returning students on all online/distance programmes. 
  • Evaluate existing processes and develop and implement process change where necessary. 
  • Develop relevant policies and procedures that are responsive to the unique needs and requirements of all online/distance programmes and students. 
  • Implement & maintain accurate administrative processes specifically pertaining to online/distance programmes and students. 
  • End-to-end student liaison and student records management for all online/distance programmes in the faculty. 
  • Coordinate and service various committees. 
  • Create, update, and maintain records of all online/distance programme students. 
  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders that collaborate in providing student services.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Faculty Registrar and/or Dean from time to time.

Inherent Criteria

  • A Bachelor's Degree and/or an equivalent appropriate qualification.
  • At least three years relevant experience in a university faculty office environment is required.
  • Experience with administering online/distance programmes.
  • Experience with developing policies. o Experience with innovating new processes.
  • Experience working with external service providers.
