University of Venda - Vice Chancellor and Principal

Job Description

Duties:

  • Provide continuous support to Vice-Chancellor and Principal to ensure the effective implementation of the Annual Performance Plan;
  • Assist the Vice-Chancellor and Principal in monitoring the implementation of Strategic Objectives.
  • Assist the Vice-Chancellor and Principal’s office to maintain awareness on operational information relevant to teaching, research and community engagement;
  • Liaison with the DVCs Research, Academic and Corporate Services to identify key stakeholders and bodies nationally and internationally with which the University should develop partnerships and other forms of collaboration;

  • Assist the Vice-Chancellor and Principal to identify opportunities for support for the University, its staff members and students;
  • Coordinate all statutory reporting to the Department of Higher Education and Training and other stakeholders;
  • Manage special projects as identified by the Vice-Chancellor and Principal from time to time;
  • Provide a high-level executive assistance to the Vice Chancellor and Principal through conducting applied research, report writing, speech writing, environmental scanning and ensuring that the Vice Chancellor and Principal is updated on all matters pertaining to the Higher Education and related sectors. 

Inherent Criteria

  • Doctoral degree in an appropriate field of study with a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in higher education sector. Extensive knowledge of regional and global trends in the higher education sector.  Experience in both academic and administration in higher education sector. 
  • Evidence of applied and basic research, Information and Communication skills, Project Management, Communication and Report Writing skills
  • Basic use of statistics
