Background to Position
Job Purpose:
Lecturing Mathematics & Mathematical Literacy in the Senior Phase & Further Education and Training (SP & FET) Phase Department.
Please Note: The Teacher Education programme at our Wellington Campus is taught in Afrikaans. Except for lecturers who teach languages other than Afrikaans, lecturers need to be able to teach/lecture in Afrikaans

Inherent Criteria
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- A relevant Master’s degree in Mathematics Education
- A relevant teaching qualification
- Mathematics as a major subject at undergraduate level
- At least two (2) years’ relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level or five (5) years’ relevant teaching experience in the SP & FET Phase at school level
- Knowledge, understanding and experience in the preparation and evaluation of meaningful teaching experiences for SP & FET Phase students
- Experience and knowledge of support and differentiated teaching for learners experiencing barriers to learning related to Mathematics
- Fluency in English and Afrikaans (BEd tuition in Wellington is through Afrikaans)
Recommendations:
- A relevant Doctoral degree in Mathematics Education
- Evidence of relevant research output
- Knowledge and understanding of CAPS in the SP & FET Phase
- Knowledge and understanding of the importance and challenges of SP & FET Phase teaching in the 21st century
- Solid grounding in the subject (Mathematics) as well as the teaching methodologies
- Experience in the planning, designing and editing of teaching and learning materials (including electronic)
