Background to Position
Job Purpose:
This post is in line with the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP), part of the DHET and Staffing South Africa's Universities Framework (SSAUF) response towards addressing challenges in the South African Higher Education system in respect of size, composition and capacity of its academic staff. The SSAUF intends to identify and nurture academic talent early in the academic development trajectory, and to support newly recruited academics to develop teaching expertise, develop research skills, including scientific publication skills. This nGAP involves the recruitment of a highly capable scholars as new academics. Appointment within the nGAP is to ensure that staff equity targets are met, with preference to black and/or women South African citizens.
The purpose of this post is to lecture on the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration as well as Bachelor of Business Informatics, to conduct research with the Centre for Business Innovation and Incubation (BIIC) in the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences (FBMS), and academic staff development.

Job Description
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities:
- Participation all components of the nGAP development programme during the first six (6) years of employment.
- Development of course materials, curriculum and teaching on PGDip: BA, Dip: Banking, and BBI.
- Involvement in formative and summative assessment on the PGDip: BA, Dip: Banking and BBI.
- Development of course materials, teaching and researching on Entrepreneurship Management (Business Innovation and Incubation Management)
- Coordination of Business Innovation and Incubation Management.
Involvement in:
- Applications, selection and admissions of students
- Registration and cancellation of students
- Exemptions and recognitions
- Timetabling: Tests, final assessments and examinations
- Marks processing; mark amendments; marks review; marks publication
- Graduation (all aspects related to pre- and post-graduation matters)
- Academic structure of qualifications and knowledge of the HEQSF
- Committees administration
- Facilitation and implementation of actions from faculty -, Senate – and Senate sub committees relating to student matters.
- Communication: Effective communication with all stakeholders

Inherent Criteria
To be eligible for selection for this nGAP post, applicants must meet the following criteria, in addition to meeting the minimum criteria specified for the post: show interest in becoming an academic; be 40 years or younger; have a 70% pass mark for his/her Master's degree; show evidence of eligibility to undertake post-graduate study at doctoral level or post-doctoral programme; and be willing to commit to placement at the appointing university for the full 6 years of the programme.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- A Master’s degree in business administration with specialisation in Entrepreneurship and/or Business Innovation and/or Incubation Management
- Two years’ work experience
