Background to Position
The Faculty of Science seeks to appoint an Academic Excellence Coordinator . This is a three year fixed term position based at the Arcadia Campus.
Job Description
Key Performance Areas/Core functions:
- Coordinate the Faculty 1st years orientation programme
- Coordinate the Faculty Tutorial programme
- Coordinate the Faculty Mentorship programme
- Liaising with Student Development and Support
- Manage all student referalls to Student Development and Support
- Monitoring all referalls
- Organise interventions to improve the success rate of 1st year students, readmitted excluded students and students on probation
- Monitoring 1st year, readmitted excluded students and students on probation
- Interviewing students experiencing personal and/or other problems
- Promoting this service through classroom visits, social media etc
- Liaising with staff of the Faculty of Science and;
- Report to Faculty FCTL on training interventions on monthly basis
Inherent Criteria
Minimum Requirements:
- A Master’s degree in Education, Psychology or a relevant qualification for the Faculty of Science
- Three years working experience working among/with young adults requiring remedial interventions/other counselling
- Experience in Coaching and Counselling of students
