Background to Position
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Faculty of Science has a permanent position of a Lecturer at the Arcadia campus.
Job Description
Critical Performance Areas:
- The incumbent will be required to present pharmacology and clinical pharmacy related modules in the integrated thermatic, problem based, four year professional Bachelor of Pharmacy degree programme and the Bachelor of Technology Pharmaceutical Sciences programme
- Lecturing pharmacology as a service subject for cognate programmes
- Assessment of student achievement
- Academic administration
- To play a role in the quality management, development and revision of the curricula in collaboration with industry stakeholders as aligned to the strategic vision of the department
- Liaise with industry and other stakehlders regarding excursions, research and community projects
- Conduct research within the departmental research strategic areas
- Supervision of postgraduate students
- Participate in administrative leadership in departmental, faculty and institutional committeees and activities relating to the learning programmes of the department
Inherent Criteria
Minimum Requirements:
- Masters degree in Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacology (NQF level 9)
- BPharm as first degree
- A qualification in education would be a strong recommendation
Experience:
- Five years lecturing experience in pharmacology and/or clinical pharmacy
- Ward pharmacy / Clinical pharmacy experience in a hospital
- Evidence of research experience in the field of pharmacology or clinical pharmacy
- Experience in problem-based teaching and learning methodology would be an advantage
Registration with professional bodies (if applicable):
- Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council is essential
