Background to Position
The department of Sport, Rehabilitation and Dental Sciences seeks to appoint a Junior Lecturer/Lecturer (Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics). This is a permanent position based at the Pretoria Campus.
Job Description
Key Performance Areas/Core functions:
- Responsible for lecturing MOP theoretical and/or practical modules at the Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics division.
- Lecture students according to timetable for these modules.
- Compiling of tests, examination papers, special exit examinations, all assessments as per the module requirements and loading of marks onto the ITS system.
- Assist with student enquiries (registration, examination, predicate and exclusions, etc.)
- Printing reports, such as class lists, statistics and academic reports.
- Assist with time tables of students.
- Participate in division, department and faculty meetings and committees/portfolios as required.
Inherent Criteria
Minimum Requirements:
- An initial bachelor or BTech degree in Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics (MOP) or equivalent NQF Level 7 or 8 (Junior Lecturer). A Junior Lecturer would have to complete a relevant Master’s degree within 5-years of being appointed.
- A relevant MOP or rehabilitation Master’s degree or equivalent qualification NQF Level 9 (Lecturer).
- A minimum of 4-years work experience in an MOP department is a requirement.
- Registered as an Independent MOP practitioner with HPCSA.
- Experience in supervising MOP students or junior MOP practitioners.
- Relevant lecturing experience in similar position would be an advantage.
