Job Description
1. Invention Disclosures and IP Co-ordination
· Participation and/or presentations to faculty, meetings with inventors, etc.
· Assisting the Director with reviews of commercial potential and recommendations on commercialisation strategies, including market analyses, protection strategies, etc.
· Engaging with CPUT academics and researchers to identify innovative technologies/solutions.
2. Commercialisation
· Undertake market and industry analyses for assessing the commercial potential of university IP.
· Assist CPUT academics by reviewing and providing input to funding applications for technology development.
· Project management of technology development projects e.g., TIA-funded projects.
3. Marketing collateral
· Responsible for overseeing the development of four animation videos per year.
· Responsible for overseeing the development of the following publications: Technology Buzz (biennial).
· Upload and update content on the Innovation Bridge portal.
4. General Management
· Assist in all organisational, management, and administrative activities of the office to ensure optimal functioning of the office given limited resources.
· Assisting the Technology Transfer Manager in preparation of various submissions to NIPMO including disclosures, referrals, IP Fund rebate submissions, etc.
· Assisting the Technology Transfer Manager in the preparation of audits, review, and submissions to funders (CPUT, TIA, NIPMO, etc) in respect of reports required, capacity development initiatives, etc.
5. Marketing events
· Arrange technology transfer events.
· Oversee logistical arrangements related to the TTO workshops, events, meetings, and travel arrangements.
6. Additional / Developmental Functions
· Participate in internal and external workshops, conferences, etc. to broaden own skills and contribute to the profession.
Competencies:
· Sound understanding of the “IPR Act” and compliance requirements of a technology transfer.
· Appreciation of the typical processes involved in, and challenges of, protecting and commercializing intellectual property created in research intensive institutions.
· Excellent communication skills, ability, and interest to work across a range of different technical fields, excellent organisation skills and attention to detail.

Inherent Criteria
A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing (NQF level 7 or higher)
2-year relevant experience in technology innovation marketing
RECOMMENDED
Relevant NQF 8 Degree
Higher Education experience
Excellent communication skills, ability, and interest to work across a range of different technical fields, excellent organization skills, and attention to detail.
