Job Description

The incumbent will be expected to contribute to teaching and research in the Biology programme on the Westville campus. S/he will also be expected to contribute to teaching at undergraduate and Honours level, and supervise postgraduate students. S/he would also be expected to contribute to curriculum development and administration in the School. A strong background in parasitology is required for the post. Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge of the morphology, epidemiology and control of a range of parasites.

The incumbent will report to the Academic Leader: Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology.

Inherent Criteria

Minimum Requirements :

• A PhD degree in Parasitology or a relevant related field of biological science

• Relevant teaching experience in teaching at tertiary level

• Demonstrated ability to attract external research funds

• A current and sustained research record of publications in peer-reviewed in ISI/SAPSE accredited journals appropriate for the level of appointment

• Successful supervision of postgraduate students (MSc and PhD) in a relevant field of study

In addition to the above :

Associate Professor:

• Successful supervision of postgraduate students including at least one PhD student
