Job Description

Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be responsible for delivering an effective and comprehensive administrative service to the Head of the Department and staff members in the Department of Accounting, including:

  •  Departmental Administrator assisting the;

o    Head of the Department of Accounting,

o    CA Programme Coordinator,

o    Lecturers in the Department of Accounting, and

o    Lecturers across different departments who are involved in the management of the CA programme.

  • General office administration
  • Teaching and learning administration
  • Research and marketing administration
  • Financial, marketing and human resources administration
  • Management of the logistical arrangements for events and facilities

Inherent Criteria

Mininum Requirements:

  • Relevant 3 year B degree with at least 2 years’ experience that includes office administration, secretarial and financial experience; or
  • Matric and an applicable 3 year secretarial and/or office administration qualification and 3 years’ experience that includes office administration, secretarial experience and financial administration; and
  • Experience in the use of MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint, as well as the use of internet and e-mail.

Competencies (Skills, Knowledge And Behaviorual Attributes):

  • Applicable professional communication and language skills, both written and verbal;
  • Ability to work under pressure without compromising detail and accuracy;
  • Strong display of customer service acumen;
  • The ability and sophistication needed to interact with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to prioritise work independently and handle simultaneous assignments with success and accuracy;
  • Good administrative skills;
  • Ability to handle confidential information; and
  • Good Interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively function in a diverse group;

Added Advantages and Preferences:

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access;
  • Experience in administering undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes;
  • Knowledge of a blended learning environment including online support (ClickUP);
  • Basic knowledge of the PeopleSoft system;
  • Knowledge of webpage maintenance;
  • Experience in managing the logistical arrangements for events;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the higher education environment.
  • A driver’s license
