Job Description

  Duties

  • Director Centre for Higher Education Teaching and Learning will be responsible for all the planning coordination, execution and evaluation of the programmes in CHETL.
  • He/she will ensure the development and operationalisation of a holistic range of programmes and services on teaching and learning, which guarantee continuous improvement in throughput and graduation rates at the University of Venda.
  • His/her academic and professional leadership should result in effective initiation, coordination and promotion of support programmes which optimally address the challenges facing academics and students in achieving teaching and learning outcomes at Univen.
  • Coordination of meetings of the Senate Teaching and Learning Committee and chairing it in the absence of the DVC: Teaching and Learning.

Inherent Criteria

REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate must be in possession of a PhD.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience, at least five of which should be at the level of HOD of any academic or administrative unit at a university.
  • Teaching and learning experience at a university, with a track record of scholarly outputs in the field of education/education management/academic development.
  • Must have the ability to manage workload and possess efficient administration skills.
  • Ability to deliver teaching in ways which stimulate, engage and inspire students to learn.
