Job Purpose:
· Associate Professor: Above the role of a Senior Lecturer, provide leadership in support of the Head of Department, take substantial role in postgraduate supervision with significant research activities and output.
· Senior Lecturer: In addition to the role of a Lecturer, provide leadership in academic administration, postgraduate supervision and conduct own research.
· Lecturer: To lecture and contribute to curriculum development in the Department of Agriculture while providing support to the Department in pursuit of its objectives in teaching and learning, work-base placed learning, community engagement and research outputs.
Job Description
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities:
- Teach the subjects: Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Communication, Livestock Production, Animal Nutrition, Animal Breeding other related subject(s) as assigned by the HOD
- Provide appropriate academic and administrative duties in the Department
- Participate in curriculum development
- Perform student assessment
- Participate in research
- Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department
- Monitor and assess Workplace based learning
- Develop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies
- Assist with marketing and recruitment activities
- Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department

Inherent Criteria
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Associate Professor:
- PhD/Doctorate Agricultural Extension
- Master of Science degree with specialization in Agricultural Extension, Community/Rural Development, M. Inst. Agrar or equivalent qualification
- Base qualification: BSc in Agriculture/Livestock Production with relevant foundational subjects
- At least six years’ teaching experience in the Higher Education Sector
- Proven research experience and successful supervision of postgraduate students commensurate with the level of Associate Professor
- Track record of published research output in reputable local and international journals
Senior Lecturer:
- PhD/Doctorate Agricultural Extension
- Master of Science degree with specialization in Agricultural Extension, Community/Rural Development, M. Inst. Agrar or equivalent qualification
- Base qualification: BSc in Agriculture/Livestock Production with relevant foundational subjects
- At least four years’ working experience with at least two years’ teaching experience in the Higher Education Sector
- Proven research experience and successful supervision of postgraduate students commensurate with the level of Senior Lecturer.
- Track record of published research output in reputable local and international journals
Lecturer:
- Master of Science degree with specialization in Agricultural Extension, Community/Rural Development, M. Inst. Agrar or equivalent qualification
- Base qualification: BSc in Agriculture/Livestock Production with relevant foundational subjects
- At least two years’ work experience with at least one year’ teaching experience in the Higher Education Sector
