Background to Position

Bellville Campus - Bellville, Cape Town, WC ZA (Primary)

Job Purpose:

To provide and promote the highest standard of payroll services and meet the needs of the staff, faculty and students at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and provide accurate and timely processing of the payroll through  maintenance and interpretation of policies and supervision of payroll staff.

Job Description

Key Performance Areas/Principal Accountabilities:

  • Maintenance  of payroll system code structure.
  • Verification of Input received and captured on ITS system (internal or external) for monthly payroll processing.
  •  Monthly salary calculations.
  • Monthly 3rd payments and sending of schedules.
  • Monthly and annual Statutory Submissions.
  • Communicate to External or Internal stakeholders to resolve Payroll related queries.
  • Reconciliation of control accounts.
  • System setup review and Executive Members' salaries.

Inherent Criteria

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • A relevant three year (3) National Diploma in Accounting/Finance or in a Business related field with Accounting as a subject
  • Basic understanding of accounting.
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in a payroll environment of which 2-3 years in supervisory  role
  • Working knowledge of any electronic payroll, ERP system experience is advantageous (ITS, VIP, SAP, etc).
  • Computer Literacy advanced Excel and Ms Word.

Recommendation

    Please Note:  Preference will be given to internal candidates who meet the minimum requirements

    ·         Tertiary experience will be an added advantage.
