Background to Position
All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties.
A Professor and Associate Professor are to provide academic leadership in the following areas: teaching and learning; research and community engagement as well as to contribute towards the governance of the institution. This leadership contribution of the Professor should be evidenced at the departmental, Faculty and institutional levels.
Job Description
Key performance indicators include, but are not limited to:
- Engaging in curriculum development
- Facilitation of learning
- Assessment of learning
- Evaluation of teaching
- Support of students in their studies
- Supervision of post-graduate students (with the appropriate qualification to do this)
- Assume leadership responsibilities as they relate to teaching and learning.
Inherent Criteria
CA(SA) and M.Com. in Taxation or PhD in the area of Taxation
Must have professional experience in Taxation:
Senior Lecturer, with Academic experience: Teaching experience in the discipline of Taxation at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels is required.
Senior Lecturer with academic experience: Sufficient training and/or mentorship in the workplace and relevant post-training contract experience.
Associate Prof: Considerable teaching experience in the discipline of Taxation, at the undergraduate and postgraduate, including Masters and PhD levels, is required.
Preference will be given to under-represented designated applicants, in particular (in order of preference) Black female/Black male/Coloured female/Coloured male.
Senior Lecturer: Growing profile in Taxation
Associate Prof: Emerging national profile in Taxation
Senior Lecturer: Research supervision of at least Masters is required
Associate Prof: Research supervision of at least Masters degrees is required (preferably PhD’s)
Track record of administration, management and/or leadership roles (formal or informal).
