MAIN PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE
The main purpose of this position is to lead the asset verification team and provide field support to the asset register project. The project is aimed at fully automating the movable and immovable fixed asset registers. The position will require the incumbent to do intercampus travel and all establishments with University assets.
Job Description
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
1) Lead verification teams and oversee activities of the controllers and administrators
· Strategize and lead teams performing 100% physical asset verification
· Ensuring the tagging of assets with barcodes by verification teams
· Ensuring the putting up of Inventory lists in all rooms by verification teams
· Ensure that Asset Condition assessment is done
2) Provide accurate data processing with data from the field
· Populate the verified movable assets into the Fixed Asset Register
· Populate the verified immovable assets into the Fixed Asset Register
3) Assist reassessment for useful lives and residual values as per the UFH asset policy and IFRS requirements
4) Assist in reconciling and developing the IFRS compliant fixed asset register
5) Reporting to the Project Manager
Inherent Criteria
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Minimum of a Degree in commerce/ business/ finance/ accounting/ or related field.
- Preference will be given to candidates with post graduate diplomas/ honor's degrees in any of the above-mentioned fields.
- Preference will be given to candidates with completed SAICA training contract
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Excel (basic to advanced).
- Previous experience of at least 3 years in an asset management environment of a reputable SMME to a large organisation.
- Proven ability to lead a team, work under pressure and deadline driven.
- Ability to multi-task and liaise confidently with stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in the Higher Education Sector or Services related sector will be an added advantage.
