Background to Position

The Directorate for Short-Learning Programmes (DSLPs) through the Centre for Entrepreneurship Rapid Incubator (CfERI) at Walter Sisulu University of Technology is pleased to announce a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship for 2023.

The fellowship will entail conducting conceptual and empirical research on entrepreneurship, small business development, develop research skills and provide support to the DSLPs. The ideal candidate should be conversant with SLP, teaching and learning research.

Job Description

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • To advance SLP within the Centre and at an institutional level.
  • To increase research outputs in the DSLP and CfERI at WSU.
  • Writing of research grant or funding proposals.
  • Publish articles in reputable journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings.
  • Facilitate entrepreneurship, business incubation training.
  • Be involved in initiating and managing research projects.
  • Participate in DSLPs / CfERI research-oriented events, e.g., the Focus Conference.
  • Local Economic Development (LED)

Inherent Criteria

ELIGIBILITY:‍

  • A recently earned PhD (not older than 5 years) in any field with demonstrable interest in entrepreneurship, teaching and learning.
  • South African citizens and permanent residents will be given priority, individuals with work permit can also apply.
  • At least four publications in DHET accredited journals

COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal relation skills.
  • Team player and collaborator.
  • Competent in research software.
