Call for a Full-Time Postdoctoral Fellow in the Faculty of Education, The University of Fort Hare: 2023

Join Professor Vusi Mncube at the University of Fort Hare in the Faculty of Education, South Africa. Prof. Mncube’s research focuses on good governance, with a special focus on school governance, democracy and education, democracy for education and Violence in schools and he is within the discipline of Educational Leadership Management and Policy. The title of the current project is “The nature of Gender-Based violence in South African Universities”.

The fellowship will enable an outstanding doctoral graduate to obtain experience of research and innovation at a higher education institution under the mentorship of established researchers. The fellowship is awarded on a competitive basis, considering the applicant’s academic achievements, publication outputs and research potential, as well as the relevance of prior experience and expertise. The fellowship is available for a period of one-year, renewable subject to satisfactory performance

Job Description

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to other collaborative opportunities and deliverables required, the emphasis will be on the following key outputs:

  • Produce at least four (4) peer-reviewed co-authored publications per year.
  • Co-supervise at least one master’s and one doctorate student per year.
  • Participate in grant writing and submit at least one grant proposal per year.
  • Participate in administration, report writing, workshop organisation and facilitation of other research activities as delegated.

Inherent Criteria

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Open to South Africans and foreign nationals for full-time research at the University of Fort Hare.
  • Preference is given to South African citizens and permanent residents
  • Young and emerging scholars
  • Graduated with a PhD degree in a relevant discipline within the last five years
  • Successful applicants may not hold full-time salaried employment during the fellowship
  • Successful applicants must be able to relocate to the UFH for the duration of the fellowship.
