6-Months Fixed Term Contract Appointment


We are seeking a skilled Compensation and Benefits Manager to join our team at the University. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and administering compensation and benefits programs to ensure that the University is able to attract, retain and motivate top talent

Job Description


  • Develop, implement, and maintain a compensation and benefits programme that is competitive with industry standards and meets the needs of the University's diverse workforce.
  • Ensure that the compensation and benefits programme complies with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Manage the University's compensation structure and review compensation packages for all employees, ensuring they are aligned with the organization's objectives.
  • Design and implement incentive programs, including performance-based bonuses and equity compensation plans.
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including medical aid, retirement plans, etc
  • Work with HR to develop employee communication and education programs to promote understanding and appreciation of the compensation and benefits programmes.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of compensation and benefits programs and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external service providers to ensure the University receives the best possible service and pricing.
  • Manage a team of compensation and benefits professionals, providing guidance, coaching and support as needed.

Inherent Criteria

Job Requirements:

  • Honours degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a leadership role within Compensation and Benefits management.
  • In-depth knowledge of compensation and benefits practices and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience with HR information systems and compensation planning software.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
