The Department of Education Policy Studies in the Faculty of Education at Stellenbosch University is a research-intensive department. Its activities are informed by the following strategic orientations:

Job Description

Duties:

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including the development of theoretical frameworks, content and assessment strategies;
  • Research and publications;
  • Student supervision and co-supervision;
  • Evaluation of teaching practice.

Inherent Criteria

Job Requirements:

  • PhD, with a specialisation in Philosophy of Education;
  • An undergraduate teaching qualification;
  • Teaching experience in higher education;
  • Evidence of a publications record in Philosophy of Education (for appointment as Professor /Associate Professor), or at least some publications (for appointment as Senior Lecturer);
  • Evidence of a supervision record at Master's and PhD levels (for appointment as Professor / Associate Professor), or postgraduate mentorship and supervision (for appointment as Senior Lecturer).

Recommendation:

  • For appointment as Professor / Associate Professor, an NRF rating;
  • Experience and knowledge of contemporary debates in education and policy studies in South Africa;
  • Evidence of trans-disciplinary collaborations;
  • Evidence of international networking (conferences, projects, research outputs) will be advantageous at Senior Lecturer level.
