BACKGROUND TO POSITION:
The University of Fort Hare seeks to recruit a Professor/ Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer in Nursing for the Faculty of Health Sciences (East London Campus).Please indicate the academic rank being applied for in the application.
Job Description
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Responsibilities include:
- Provide academic leadership in research, curriculum design, development and implementation,
- Teach undergraduate programs,
- Teach and supervise postgraduate students,
- Publish accredited academic research commensurate with academic rank,
- Participate in community engagement integrated with teaching and research,
- Perform academic leadership and related administrative duties,
- Secure external research grants and establish research programmes.
Additional requirements:
- Evidence of successful fundraising for research-related activities in the field of Nursing,
- Evidence of academic leadership,
- Evidence of attracting, mentoring, and working with emerging researchers or early career academics, and post-doctoral fellows,
- Evidence of professional and academic standing in the field of Nursing,
- Recognition as a leading scholar in a chosen area of research (e.g. NRF rating; international keynote/plenaries) will be an added advantage.
Inherent Criteria
Qualifications:
- Doctoral Degree in Nursing or related field
- A qualification in Nursing Education
- A qualification in Nursing Management that is registered with the South African Nursing Council
- Professional registration with the South African Nursing Council
Experience:
- At least 7 years’ experience in higher education for a full Professor / 5 years’ for Associate Professor / 3 years for Senior Lecturer.
- Extensive teaching and research experience in Nursing in higher education.
- Track record of accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank being applied for.
- Extensive successful postgraduate (Masters and Doctoral) supervision commensurate with the academic rank being applied for.
