Job Description

Transport Services provides Stellenbosch University (SU) and its staff with cost-effective, sustainable transport options for training, research, sports, and cultural purposes. The environment is also responsible for management and operation of the SU vehicle fleet (central pool and departments), as well as parking, bicycle rental and shuttle services. They also offer vehicle financing to staff, negotiate prices for the purchase and sale of vehicles, and handle all purchases and sales of official SU vehicles.

Inherent Criteria

Requirements: 

Please note that applicants who do not meet all the requirements, will not be considered.

  • At least fifteen years’ relevant experience, with at least five years in a managerial capacity;
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification (business management, logistics);
  • Strong financial knowledge and skill;
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (Road Transport, National Credit Act, etc.);
  • Thorough knowledge of the relevant market and products;
  • Highly motivated and performance-orientated (high achievement orientation);
  • Diplomatic and persuasive negotiator;
  • The ability to work under pressure;
  • Strong sense of business ethics;
  • The ability to come up with / and generate new sources of income;
  • The ability to analyse, develop and implement business strategies / processes;
  • Excellent numeracy skills;
  • Conflict management skills;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent creative problem-solving skills;
  • Good computer literacy (Excel, Word, etc.).
