Job Description

  • Will be functioning as a clinical research member within the Surgical Gastrointestinal Clinical Unit at the University of the Free State.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the units clinical research databases, data collection, ethics applications, and writing of manuscripts for the clinical trials within the Surgical Gastrointestinal Clinical Unit.
  • Responsible for writing grant applications and assist in co-ordinating the clinical units research portfolio.
  • Contribute to the development and innovation of the research unit.

Inherent Criteria

  • Post-doctoral researcher. 
  • Experience in research proposal development and ethics application requirements.
  • Advanced computer skills and experience in Redcap database development and management.
  • Portfolio in academic writing with at least 3 publications in DHET accredited journals of which one must be first author.
  • Basic knowledge in medical statistics.
  • Experience in statistics (medical), clinical data collection, meta-analysis or clinical research is advantages.
