Job Description

Duties: 

  • Lecturing in the field of Practical Theology, with specific focus on Youth, Development and Religion.
  • Commitment to further research in area of speciality. 
  • Attending and presenting papers at national and international conferences.
  • Administration pertaining to programmes, teaching and research.
  • Involvement in activities of the discipline group and Faculty.
  • Involvement in the Stellenbosch University (SU) community and social impact activities.

Inherent Criteria

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Practical Theology.
  • Teaching experience at tertiary level.
  • Research publications. 
  • Computer literacy, with the ability to use various Microsoft programs (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Experience and the ability to use the E-learning platform.
  • Good administrative and organisational skills.
  • The ability to function in a multilingual environment. 

Recommendations: 

  • A PhD in Practical Theology, with a specific focus on Youth, Community Development and Religion.
  • Research experience is a strong recommendation – proof of independent research and research output through conference presentations and two peer-reviewed articles/chapters in a three-year cycle.
  • Proven experience and involvement in service to the community should be considered.
  • Membership of academic society within the discipline.
