Background to Position

The Senior Lecturer will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students, as well as conducting transport – related research in the unit. The incumbent reports to the HOD in respect of the key performance areas listed hereunder. 

Job Description

• Offer tuition to students on Transportation Engineering courses as offered by the department of Civil Engineering.
• Initiate research, community engagement and seminar activities;
• Participating in research paper publications;
• Preparing course outlines and study guides for students and lecturers;
• Performing and carrying delegated administrative duties of the department; 

Inherent Criteria

• A PhD/Doctorate qualification in Civil Engineering
• Minimum of five (5) years teaching/lecturing or industry experience with specific focus in transportation engineering.
• A steady publication record of quality transportation engineering research outputs through accredited and/or internationally recognised research journals / conference proceedings.
• Proven or demonstrated track record of supervising postgraduate students
