Background to Position

WSU Senior Lecturer is an academic with attributes as defined by the policy on academic appointments and promotions, with duties in teaching and learning, research development and community engagement. The senior lecture is an academic leader with the requisite expertise in the three pillars of academia. The incumbent reports to the HOD in respect of the key performance areas listed hereunder.

Job Description

  • Provide Academic leadership within the Fine Art programme and Visual Arts Dept.
  • Ability to teach at all levels and supervise research projects.
  • Compile teaching material, conduct classes, asses and do administrative duties associated with teaching and learning.
  • Competence in teaching and convening coursers within the Department.
  • Vertical and horizontal integration of programme content
  • Assist department/Faculty in academic and administrative responsibilities.
  • Promote research and community partnership within the department.
  • Mentorship and development of Junior staff members 

Inherent Criteria

  • PHD in Fine Art or Visual Arts
  • Minimum of five (5) years post graduate supervision, teaching/lecturing or industry experience
  • Proven or demonstrated track record of supervising postgraduate students
  • A steady publication record of quality research outputs through accredited and/or internationally recognised research journals/conference proceedings
