Background to Position

The incumbent will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students, as well as conducting research in the unit. The incumbent reports to the HOD in respect of the key performance areas listed hereunder.

LOCATION: Walter Sisulu University- Buffalo City Campus 

Job Description

  • Offer courses in Mechanical Engineering
  • Initiate research, community engagement and seminar activities;
  • Participating in research paper publications;
  • Preparing course outlines and study guides for students and lecturers;
  • Performing and carrying delegated administrative duties of the department;
  • Ability to attract funding and to develop research programs in the department’s areas of research strength 

Inherent Criteria

  • PhD/ Doctorate qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of five (5) years teaching/lecturing or industry experience
  • A steady publication record of quality research outputs through accredited and/or internationally recognised research journals/conference proceedings
  • Proven or demonstrated track record of supervising postgraduate students
