Background to Position

Department : Operations - Finance : Supply Chain Management

Job Description

1. Responsible for the overall performance of the Supply Chain and Expenditure units, aligning the University strategy across all operations.
2. Manage the Capacity Planning Process in line with the University Strategic Plan.
3. Interpret policies to lower levels and ensure alignment with Directorate’s operational plan.
4. Determine key Supply Chain and Expenditure KPIs.
5. Drive continuous improvement in Supply Chain and Expenditure services to better serve our customers and suppliers.
6. Responsible for the development, implementation and review of policies and procedures.
7. Oversee and monitor functional expenditure within budgeted parameters and report on variances periodically.
8. Execute the directorate’s operational plan and procedures to support the University Strategic Plan.
9. Provide tactical and operational leadership regarding all operations of the directorate from an overall perspective, which include:

·         Accounts Payable

·         Asset Management

·         Fleet Management

·         Inventory Management

·         Payroll

·         Supply Chain Management

10.    Compile reports on the Directorate’s performance at the required intervals reflecting all relevant stats

11.    Identify risks relating to the field of responsibility, develop and implement mitigating strategies

12.    Evaluate the performance of service providers on a regular basis.

13    Foster and maintain strategic alliances with both internal and external stakeholders.

14.    Ensure compliance with University policies and manage both Human and Financial Resources within the directorate. 

Inherent Criteria

• An Honours Degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent.
• Ten years relevant experience of which five should be in a managerial position.
• A Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification would be an advantage
