• The design, development, implementation and maintenance of accredited programs aligned with institutional strategies, objectives and quality standards within the accounting discipline
• Participating in faculty and institutional leadership governance structures (committees, fora) and assuming accountability for academic administration outcomes within discipline
• Establishing collaborative networks and research initiatives both locally, regionally and internationally
• Mentoring of academic staff
• Founding and monitoring community engagement initiatives in alignment with social responsibility and scholarly engagement goals
• Lecturing, teaching and promoting students
• Hosting of post-doctoral fellows
• Publishing research within institutional criteria and requirements
• Actively promoting research that has potential to further IP and third-party income goals through partnerships/donor relationships that attract funding and reputational advancement for the institution

A relevant Doctoral Degree
Registration with a relevant professional accounting body (SAICA)
At least 9 years experience in higher education for Professor, and 7 years experience for Associate Professor
Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience in accounting areas of specialization including Taxation, Auditing, Management Accounting, and Financial Accounting
A track record of international and national accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of Professor/Associate Professor
Postgraduate supervision experience including successful Doctoral supervision
Previously taught at a SAICA-endorsed programme, delivering courses aligned with professional accounting standards and competencies
Evidence of successful national and international fundraising for research
Recognition as an established scholar in a chosen area of research (e.g., NRF rating, international keynote addresses/plenary lectures)
Qualification/courses in higher education teaching and learning/Recognition for teaching
Evidence of professional and academic standing at national and international levels
Evidence of academic leadership and mentorship of early career academics
Evidence of successfully hosting post-doctoral research fellows
Evidence of community engagement integrated with teaching, learning or research
This academic leadership position in a faculty provides thought leadership in advancing faculty and institutional learning and research objectives. The role is based at the University of Fort Hare’s East London campus and requires collaboration with local, regional and international networks to advance research initiatives and scholarly engagement goals.
