Job overview

The Lecturer will facilitate learning and take responsibility for the development of nursing education, teaching and research within the frameworks of Stellenbosch University, the South African Nursing Council and the Department of Health and Wellness.

  • Teach, mentor and supervise students in theoretical and practical aspects of undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes as allocated
  • Participate in planning, organising and facilitating curriculum development for nursing programmes
  • Prepare, manage and teach learning material for nursing programmes as allocated
  • Coordinate and conduct assessment of theory and clinical modules for enrolled students
  • Provide clinical supervision, teaching, assessing and follow-up of undergraduate and postgraduate students as required
  • Develop and present short learning programmes relevant to the Department
  • Participate in social impact projects as per departmental portfolio
  • Supervise and co-supervise research students as allocated
  • Undertake academic administration and management of allocated modules
  • Conduct quality assurance and audit reports for theoretical and clinical modules allocated

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing
  • Postgraduate diploma or degree in Nursing Education
  • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council as Professional Nurse and Midwife
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an assessor and moderator
  • Minimum two years’ teaching experience at a nursing education institution with undergraduate and/or postgraduate students
  • Evidence of postgraduate research supervision
  • Computer literacy commensurate with research and lecture requirements
