Teaching and Curriculum Development: Contribute to undergraduate Civil Engineering programme curriculum, with focus on Pavement Engineering and other departmental areas aligned with expertise and needs.
Research Programme: Establish and maintain active research in Pavement Engineering through peer-reviewed publications, secure external research funding, and contribute to national and international research profile.
Postgraduate Supervision: Supervise and mentor postgraduate students; contribute to growth and development of the Department’s postgraduate programme.
Academic Leadership: Perform academic leadership, administration, and service activities within Department, Faculty, University, and the engineering profession.
Collaborative Engagement: Contribute to collaborative research, industry engagement, consulting activities, continuing professional development (CPD), and technology transfer initiatives.
Laboratory Support: Support development, utilisation, and continuous improvement of the Pavement and Geotechnical Research Laboratory (PGRL), including laboratory-based research, specialist testing services, and supervision of laboratory-based postgraduate research.
Stellenbosch University Faculty of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, seeks to appoint a collaborative and ambitious academic to join a strong teaching and research team with significant undergraduate and postgraduate student cohorts.
The incumbent will work in Pavement Engineering with industry and/or research experience in planning, design, construction, maintenance, rehabilitation, and management of road infrastructure in South Africa and internationally.
The Department values integration of teaching, research, and professional practice to strengthen engineering education, advance the discipline, and enhance industry engagement.
